Yesterday, Rachelle posted on Facebook about some old photos of a Christian summer camp she attended, and that there were some shots of my beloved wife Susan in there, too. After some digging, I found this photo and I literally said “Holy crap!” This photo is of my wife back in the day:

1. Louis Armstrong’s singing never fails to make me smile.
2. I’m looking forward to a vacation sometime.
3. The whir of a fan is what I’m listening to right now.
4. Potato salad must have bacon in it!
5. Raisin Bran was the best thing I ate today. (Of course this early in the AM, it’s the ONLY thing I’ve eaten today.)
6. Today was not even a “was” yet. (It’s too early. I can’t answer these past tense questions about “today” first thing in the morning.)
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to playing a gig in Bar Harbor, tomorrow my plans include lawn mowing and kid watching, and Sunday, I want to maybe go watch alewives swim upstream!

3. The third sentence on the 7th page of the book I’m reading: is not available to me right now. (I’m reading the Bible. I do it quite frequently. I start at the front, and read straight through. I’m in Hebrews currently. I hope to finish up this weekend. Page seven would be in Genesis. My guess is it would be something about the flood. Maybe I’ll check later and see how close I came!)

6. Sometimes I can’t believe what comes out of some politicians’ mouths; it almost makes me laugh!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to night one of a two night gig in Kennduskeag, tomorrow my plans include night two of a two night gig in Kennduskeag and Sunday, I want to be helpful to my wife, but I might be too tired!
1. All you need is two eggs, a little milk or water, some shredded cheese, salt and pepper, a little butter, and a hot pan, and I can make you a killer omelet.
2.On occasion, listening to the comedy station on my XM radio fills me with laughter.
3. Each generation, as it grows up, wants to do better than their parents. I wonder if my kids will be able to do it, or will they spend to much time, effort, and money cleaning up our mess.
4. Children who are old enough to speak in full sentences but insist on speaking “baby talk” is something I have a hard time dealing with.
5. A trip to that special island with Susan is what I need.
6. When you see an elephant is about to poop on you, you cover your head and you get back.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to being home with my family, tomorrow my plans include a freebie gig to help seniors with heating bills, and Sunday, I want to sing with the church choir!
Hey gang. I’ve been really slack on the posting the last few weeks, huh. Work has been bangin’ right along. It’s billing day next week, so that takes some pre-planning. Our Newcastle office moved to Nobleboro on June 1st, so that took me out of the office for a couple of days, resulting in two days worth of catch-up. Then I worked out in the field one day, so there’s one more day of behind-en-ness.
Last week was Jim’s bachelor party. As the best man, it was my job to throw it. Today, I’m catching a flight to Detroit, where I’ll pick up a rental car and travel four hours north. The wedding is Sunday. On Monday, I travel back to Detroit, and fly out in the evening. I’ll be back in ME late Monday, early Tuesday. I’ll prepare for billing day Tuesday, then billing day proper is Wednesday. I’ll try to make it throught Thursday and Friday, and then the following week is vacation! Yeah! I really could use one.
Also stuffed in there was my and Susan’s wedding anniversary. We celebrated 15 years of Holy Matrimony with supper at our favorite-est little eatery: Prism Glass. We started off with beef carpaccio. Susan had a veal parmigna, and I had linguini and clams. Dessert was some sort of caramel chocolate cake with banana sorbet. It was all very delicious. There are still so many things on the menu we want to try: pork chops with vidallia onion jam; chicken with artichoke hearts; duck breast with a dried blueberry glaze; lamb chops. Wowwie!
When we got home from dinner, we cut into the top layer of our wedding cake. That’s right! We forgot to eat it on our first anniversary, so we ate it on our 15th! My parents did sorta the same thing; they forgot to eat theirs, and ate it on their 10th. I remember it! I’m sure Julia will remember eating ours, too. The boys are almost 5–they probably won’t. The cake had good chocolate flavor, but was very dry. There was no “freezer funk” to it. The kids didn’t seem to care about the texture; the boys were upset we threw the bulk of it away! I took some photos, but they’re not posted yet.
