Friday Fill Ins – 2011-06

February 11, 2011 by brhythm 6 Comments

1. Family Ties was this show I used to watch a lot when I was a kid. Alex P. Keaton, the young Republican, seemed like a kindred spirit with me. And, the show introduced me to Billy Very and the Beaters.

2. This week has had its share of ups and downs. Thankfully, the last two days have been on the “up” side.

3. Trust is something I give my wife completely, and she give the the same to me.

4. Sometimes, when you’re thinking about buying a certain something, sometimes getting the cheapest thing doesn’t make sense; sometimes it makes more sense to spring for the best.

5. Parents like mine are a true gift from God. I hope I can raise my kids as well as they raised theirs.

6. There are times when it’s more important to listen to a person‘s heart–what they mean–rather than what was said.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to an evening home with the family, tomorrow my plans include baking some muffins and running some errands, and Sunday, I want to have lunch with my Mom and sister and nephews and stuff!

Friday Fill In #200!

1. Why does it seem like every time my kids get a free minute, they beg to play Lego Batman on the Wii?

2. Once the children are grown, maybe Susan and I will get the opportunity to get to the UK, Italy, France, and really get out and see the world.

3. Thank you for visiting, now how about leaving a comment?

4. Christmas is my favorite holiday because is celebrates the birth of the Savior.

5. I am SO looking forward to cramming my gullet full on Thanksgiving; I’m NOT counting calories that day.

6. Sometimes I find these questions a little obtuse; I guess the “right” answer is whatever we make up our minds to be.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to making biscuits, tomorrow my plans include boxing in some lally columns with Pastor Dave and Sunday, I want to welcome Susan home from her conference!

1. When pigs fly I’ll set up a system of nets, as they’re delicious, and I could catch some.

2. Some people can eat all they want and never gain weight? I mean, seriously?!

3. Call me if you’re looking for a fill in drummer; I’m looking for some extra work..

4. I’m really looking to an evening at home with Susan and without kids, if you know what I mean.

5. The most entertaining person in my life  is my son Matthew because he comes up with the funniest things to say.

6. One of the albums put out by English super group “The Who” was called “ who’s next? “

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a romantic evening with Susan, tomorrow my plans include helping Susan move one of her friends, and Sunday, I want to share a cool Sunday School game I’ve had brewing in my mind for several weeks!

1. One of my strongest beliefs is a teaching of Jesus recorded in John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to Father but through Me.”

2. The number of calories I ate at the “Spruce Head Young Men’s hangout” last night (hosted at my house) must’ve been huge!

3. The sky is cloudy with a threat of rain and wind and cold, so I think I better go check the fuel in the generator and let it warm up–’cause we’re probably gonna lose power.

4. Snuggling next to Susan is comforting to me.

5. I always thought I’d be a dad, but I really didn’t understand how much enjoyment and satisfaction it brings.

6. I was only a moment until my clothes shredded off my now hairy body, and my canine teeth elongated to the point of not being able to be contained behind my thin, shriveled lips; and then I went outside to look at the full moon, almost fully mutated into a Werewolf.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to hanging it with the boys (Susan’s at a women’s retreat and Julia is going to a friend’s house), tomorrow my plans include meeting with the electrician to discuss wiring the new generator, and Sunday, I want to do something I don’t do on most every Sunday; what that thing is, though, I don’t know!

1. You do your thing; I do mine and sometimes it involves me playing drums.

2. Having to be put in a financial situation that forces me to sell my cymbals–the tools of my trade– is what’s been on my mind on and off all day.

3. Remember when you had extra money in the bank, and enough savings where you could have your own “snare drum fund”?

4. Susan, drums, working out are three of my favorite obsessions 🙂 (I know, hard to believe, but I’m really starting to like exercising!)

5. During the last year my outlook has really gone into the tank.

6. Playing the drums with friends puts a smile on my face.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to playing the drums at The Black Bull, tomorrow my plans include playing the drums at a Kiwanis picnic and playing the drums at a wedding, and Sunday, I want to play the drums in evening church!

1. Laughter wasn’t used in any of the operating room scenes in MASH; the producers felt a laugh track took away from the seriousness of what was on screen.

2. “I wasn’t at” are the three words that started off the last email I sent.

3. What I’m most looking forward to today is my family coming home from a week at camp.

4. The prayers of my children puts a smile on my face.

5. Where in the world can you find a Gladstone snare drum for $6.00? If you know, please call me immediately!

6. The Cars had a song that included the lyrics “ just what I needed! ” and Susan and I were talking about American new wave bands the other day. (Other than The Cars and Blondie, I couldn’t come up with any more.)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to having Susan (and the kids) home, tomorrow my plans include driving three hours to a gig in Machias, playing three hours, traveling three hours home, and then going to another gig and Sunday, I want to probably get some rest!

1. Life is moving along pretty fast right now; after all, it is summertime in Maine.

2. I’ve got a couple of cars, both over 10 years old, both with 150,000 miles, and both with lots of creeks, squeaks, and rattles. I’m not sure how long they’re going to keep going.

3. My last text message (or IM) ended in these three words: Umm, I have no idea. I don’t use IM much, and I’ve never sent a text message in my life. Honest. I’ve only received (excepting spam text to but more Tracfone minutes) less then 10, and those have all been from Pastor Dave or my friend Mike.

4. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and roasted broccoli with red pepper flakes is what I’m thinking about for dinner sometime soon. (And that sometime soon is tonight!)

5. On the 1st day of August my true love sent to me a Tama bell brass snare drum from the ’80s and all the Hostess cupcakes I could eat.

6. Hang out with my twin boys for the afternoon and they’ll give you the definition of lively and energetic.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to a super supper cooked by my favorite laddies, tomorrow my plans include working at the office and playing a gig at the Lobster Festival, and Sunday, I want to mow the lawn after church is over!

My Wife and Daughter

June 19, 2010 by brhythm Leave a Comment

Yesterday, Rachelle posted on Facebook about some old photos of  a Christian summer camp she attended, and that there were some shots of my beloved wife Susan in there, too. After some digging, I found this photo and I literally said “Holy crap!” This photo is of my wife back in the day:

This is a photo of my daughter from last year:

1. Being married to the same person for 16 years feels great.
2. The solution is to put the relationship of husband/wife before parent/children.
3. My beloved wife is always next to me before I fall asleep.
4. How about going into marriage with the idea that it IS going to last, and divorce is NOT an option?
5. Marrying your best friend is something I highly recommend!
6. Imagine living with the same person for 16 years; imagine looking forward to coming home to the same person every night, and actually wanting to be there; imagine a lifetime of being in love.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to celebrating my anniversary with the woman I love, tomorrow my plans include starting year 17 of a fantastic marriage, and Sunday, I want to sit in church beside the woman I love, and listen to her sing alto against my bass!

1. I just had a boston kreme donut.
2. Most people don’t know where Kenduskeag is.
3. The third sentence on the 7th page of the book I’m reading: is not available to me right now. (I’m reading the Bible. I do it quite frequently. I start at the front, and read straight through. I’m in Hebrews currently. I hope to finish up this weekend. Page seven would be in Genesis. My guess is it would be something about the flood. Maybe I’ll check later and see how close I came!)
4. Susan tickles my fancy.
5. I was walking down a one way street, just a lookin’ for someone to meet, for a woman who was lookin’ for a man. (Used with permission of Huey Lewis.)
6. Sometimes I can’t believe what comes out of some politicians’ mouths; it almost makes me laugh!
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to night one of a two night gig in Kennduskeag, tomorrow my plans include night two of a two night gig in Kennduskeag and Sunday, I want to be helpful to my wife, but I might be too tired!
